Cleared!!!

After the last ultrasound, Dra. Sabado said that she was worried why the hemorrhage was still increasing despite the medicines that I have been taking. I was also on Prednisone 5, a steroidal medicine that lowered my immune system (thus if I had to go out of the house, I must be wearing a mask), in the hopes of finally removing the hemorrhage.

She was worried I had APAS (Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome), an auto immune disease wherein my body rejects my baby thinking of it as a foreign entity. She increased my dosage of Prednisone to 20mg and referred me to a specialist. I was still required to have bed rest, and another ultrasound in two weeks.

During our first visit to the specialist, she told us to undergo a series of lab works to identify if I indeed have APAS, she wanted it done ASAP to avoid further complications. We asked how much the lab works cost, and she told us around PHP 19,000.00!! Waaah! Wati and I were shocked! I was honestly worried and scared again. :(

After our appointment with the specialist, Wati and I had a heart to heart talk. We decided to wait until our next ultrasound before we have the laboratory tests  for APAS. We were more careful during the period waiting for our next ultrasound. More lying down, and less sitting up on the bed for me.

So the day of our next ultrasound came: February 3, 2017. Our OB said to try having my ultrasound in CUPSI. And wow the price difference from Chong Hua (which cost us PHP 1300), as the ultrasound in CUPSI only cost us PHP 720! hehe.

You know what, the 2 week ultrasounds have become something I look forward to. Though it gave me some anxiety as I worry about the status hemorrhage, it made me more excited to see, hear the heartbeat, and know the well being of  the lil human being growing inside of me.

So while waiting for our turn, I was praying so hard for a positive result, but I was also no longer getting my hopes up to avoid another meltdown when the result would not be so good.

I of course could not pinpoint which of those black/gray/white areas in the screen is the hemorrhage, so I directly asked the sonologist whether the hemorrhage was still there and whether it was increasing or what. And guess, what?? She said she could not see any hemorrhage!!! Her words felt like music to my ears. I was again about to cry because of relief, of happiness, and of the anticipation that soon I'd be out of bed rest!! It was one of the happiest days of my pregnancy, plus it relieved me and wati the additional expense of going through the APAS lab tests! :)

Dra. Sabado was also very happy with the results but instructed me to continue with the medicines. She gave out instructions that she would gradually taper down the dosage of my prednisone, but was made to continue with the duphaston (and boy, is duphaston expensive! haha). I was finally out of bed rest but was told to avoid a lot of walking and going up and down the stairs and did not yet allow me to immediate go back to work and wait until March to avoid stress (to papa's dismay coz he had been asking me non-stop when i'd go back.lol)). And I finally graduated from my 2 week ultrasound. My next one was still by the end of March for my mid pregnancy ultrasound! yeah!

So for February 2017 I got to have V-day date with Mama, Nana and Wati in Seaside. I got to fulfill my Maid of Honor duties for BFF Aira's wedding, and I got to go to the beach (finally!)
