JULY 1, 2017

My due date was supposed to be July 30, 2017. It was still July 1, 2017. And I was already in the labor room.

I only had my rosary, and my massage roller with me. I prayed hard for a safe delivery.
In the morning of July 1, the contractions were a bit more frequent but not that painful yet. I had little to no sleep as I was scared, and worried, and the docs and nurses kept checking up on me. Around 10am, I felt the contractions a bit closer but the pain was tolerable. I sat up, walked, and tried to relax. I saw some mommies come and go the delivery room (some shouting some silent like me).

Then mid afternoon I could already feel the contractions intensify. And the intervals were nearer. I just held on to my rosary and rolled my massage rollers over my now aching lower back. I would still continue to walk to the cr. When the contractions became intense, i'd sometimes stand up and bend down towards the bed. I would just make deep breaths when the pain became too much. I was so silent that the nurses and the resident doc did not even think I was already in pain. hehehe.

Until past 6PM when the contractions were super and I mean super near each other that the pain began to become unbearable! After an intense contraction, I'd thank God it was over and pray for some time before the next one, but no, just when I could get a sigh of relief another intense contraction would come! This went on for some time that I got sooooooo tired that I went to the nurse and told her I needed a pain reliever! They injected me with the pain reliever but the pain was intense that I did not feel the pain reliever take effect. This went on for a few more minutes and I just wished for a little rest and some sleep that I begged for an epidural. I was bent on having no epidural then but naaa, it's different when you are actually feeling the pain and when you are already very tired. lol.

The resident doc advised me against having an epidural as she said it may prolong the opening of the cervix and prolong the delivery. But I was adamant on getting sleep and getting that epidural so they looked for an available anesthesiologist. The resident doc did an IE and said I was already 7cm dilated so they rushed me to the delivery room.

I asked that they now call Wati. When I went to the delivery room the anesthesiologist was already there and they introduced me. They then asked me to lie on my side so the epidural can be injected into my spine. Curling up into a fetal position when you're tummy is huge is so damn hard and painful!! But when the epidural took effect, oh what a relief!! They then called wati to go inside the delivery room. Dra. Sabado then came, and told me to practice pushing. Wati was just by my head and egging me on.  Until I heard the doc said he was crowning and told me when to to push. During the final push, I could vividly remember hearing my little boy cry..hard and me reaching out to him immediately the moment I saw him. 740pm. I could remember his cry and how the doc said that even being short of 36 weeks he had a strong cry. I could remember being enveloped in so much happiness that I cried when they finally put him on top of me. This was the moment I had longed for for so long. All those years of crying and praying, and trying and taking fertility meds, and being frustrated everytime I had my period, all came to an end that very moment I saw him. He was sooo small, but he filled up my heart so much!

I am finally a mommy!!! I finally now have the family I have longed for for so long. I was overwhelmed with so much joy and so much hope for the lil one on top of me. This has been one, if not the bestest day of my life...so far!

If only Wati brought a camera to document everything, the hardship, the joy, everything about that moment. But unfortunately, he did not. Boooo. heheh. The nurse in fact told him, "sir pag take ug picture" and that's when he ran outside to get his phone. hahaha.
